William George Robinson
Acting Corporal 39947
67th Company, Labour Corps
Died of Wounds
16 September 1917
William was born in Dublin circa 1869. He joined up in Cardiff as Private 65369 Royal Welsh Fusiliers, while we don’t know when he joined up, we know from his Medal Index Card that he did not serve abroad prior to January, 1916.
At some stage William was then transferred to the 67th Company, Labour Corps and it was while serving with this unit that he was wounded, dying from the effects of these wounds on 16 September, 1917, aged 48.
William was entitled to the British War and Victory medals and is buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery, which lays west of Poperinge in the Ypres Salient.
