Branch Meeting, 14 December, 2013.

                                             Died of Wounds, 14 December, 1916.

The son of Patrick and Mary Doherty of 88 Baggott Lane, Pembroke Road, Dublin, John was already in the army when war broke out and landed in France on 21 August, 1914.

At some stage he was wounded and evacuated back to England, where he was admitted to the Royal Victoria Military Hospital at Netley near Southampton.

He succumbed to his wounds there on 14 December, 1916, and was buried in the Netley Military Cemetery.
